How Dusty works

You ask. Dusty figures out the rest.

  1. Dusty at a computer, listening to a request

    1. Ask

Tell Dusty what you want in normal language.

  2. Dusty pointing at a three-item plan

    2. Plan

Dusty works out how to do it and shows you the plan. You approve the plan before it runs.

  3. Dusty typing, surrounded by app windows

    3. Do

Dusty works through your apps, browser, files and settings.

  4. Dusty giving a thumbs up beside a check mark

    4. Done

Dusty checks the result and tells you what happened.

And when you want to use it again...

Make It a Task

Write a job once, give it a name, and ask Dusty to run it any time.

Run It On a Schedule

A schedule fires a saved task on this computer at the time you choose. Dusty must be open and the computer must be on.

Skills are different: a Skill is know-how Dusty reads while working.
You do not run a Skill and you do not schedule a Skill.

Powerful AI is everywhere. The magic is making it useful, without taking over your digital life.

We see the screen. We don't keep the pictures.

Dusty looks at your desktop so it can click and type for you. Each screenshot goes to the AI for that step only. DustyWire does not store it: not for support, not if something goes wrong. A copy may stay on your computer in your chat history.

We don't keep what you asked unless you share it.

When a job finishes we save a short record: whether it worked, what kind of job it was, which apps or sites were involved, and what it cost. We don't store the text of your request unless you report a problem and choose to share it.

OpenAI and Anthropic

Your prompts and screenshots go to them mixed together and not associated with you, configured to not use your data for training and to delete it according to their policies.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to install Dusty?

Dusty is designed to install in just a few minutes. Download Dusty, install and open it, then start using the app free.

Can I use my computer while Dusty is working?

Yes. Dusty uses your mouse and keyboard, so the two of you take turns. Move the mouse or press a key and Dusty stops and waits. When you've let go for a few seconds, it looks at the screen again and carries on. Press Stop if you want it to stay paused.

Do I need to connect Dusty to every app or set up integrations?

No. Dusty works the way you do: it looks at the screen, then clicks and types. If you can use an app or a website, Dusty can usually use it too, with nothing to connect.

Do I need to give Dusty my passwords?

No. When a sign-in or a code is needed, Dusty pauses and you type it yourself. If you want Dusty to sign in for you, for example on a scheduled run, you can save that login in the app. It is stored encrypted on your computer, and Dusty types it there without ever sending it to the AI.

What is the difference between a task, a Skill and a schedule?

A task is a saved job you can run again by name. A schedule runs a saved task on this computer at the time you choose. A Skill is know-how Dusty reads while it works, such as how a particular app is laid out. You don't run or schedule a Skill; Dusty uses it when it helps.

Do scheduled tasks run if my computer is off?

No. Schedules run on your computer, so at the scheduled time the computer must be on and Dusty must be open.

Does Dusty work with every app and website?

Most of them. Dusty works on Windows and macOS with anything it can see on the screen. Some steps need you, like a CAPTCHA, a code sent to your phone or a decision only you can make. When Dusty reaches one, it pauses and asks.

What happens if Dusty cannot finish a task?

Dusty stops and tells you what it finished and what got in the way. Answer in the chat or sort out the problem yourself, and Dusty can carry on from there.

Does Dusty need an internet connection?

Yes. Dusty runs on your computer, but the AI that reads the screen and decides each step works online.

How much does Dusty cost?

There is no subscription. You get $5 of free credit when you confirm your email, then add balance only when you need it. Every run shows what it cost.

Can Dusty submit forms, make purchases or send messages for me?

Yes, if you ask it to. Dusty shows you its plan before it starts, and you can tell it where to stop, for example “Stop before payment.” When a password or code is needed, Dusty pauses and you type it yourself.
